Hot Chocolate

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am sharing with you two treats we like to have here in our home.  I think that you will love these and with a little Christmas music playing in the background they make get you in the spirit of the season.

The first one is Frozen Hot Chocolate; I love to make this and top it with Whipped Cream and crushed chocolate mint candies.

1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup White Chocolate Chips
2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Packages of prepackaged hot chocolate mix
2 tablespoons of sugar
3 cups of milk
3 cups of ice

In the top half of a double boiler place Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and White Chocolate Chips, butter, prepackaged hot chocolate mix and sugar stirring constantly until the chocolate and butter begin to melt.  Slowly add 1/2 cup of milk to the mixture continuing to stir until you have a creamy mixture.....try your best not to dip your finger in :)
In a blender mix together ice and the chocolate mixture.  Add about half of the milk and blend until ice begins to crush, add the remaining milk and blend until you have the consistency of a frozen drink.

Pour into a glass and garnish with any or all of the following:
Whipped Cream
Crushed Peppermint candy
Chocolate shavings
Marshmallows

Santa likes his "Hot Chocolate" hot, so this is the recipe I make for him.

1/2 cup of chopped chocolate candy with mint, I use Andes chocolates
1/2 cup of Semi Sweet chocolate chips
1 small can condensed milk
2 tablespoons Hershey's Coco Powder
1 1/2 cups milk

In the top half of a double boiler place both the chopped candy and the chocolate chips and half of the can of condensed milk.  Stir constantly until chocolate begins to melt and smooth, add the remaining condensed milk and continue to stir until you have a creamy smooth mixture.  Transfer to a small boiler and add the 1 1/2 cup of milk stirring until combined well.  Top with marshmallows or whipped cream.

Enjoy!

Countdown to Christmas

Hello girls and boys,

Are you getting into the Christmas spirit yet?  The time is coming quickly and your letters and cards have been filing Santa's desk so full that they are spilling out onto the floor.  He reads each and every one of them and he loves to hear how good you have all been all year long.  We have our tree up and the stockings are hung by the fireplace which is keeping us warm and toasty as the snow falls outside our window.

Thanksgiving is coming up in about a couple of weeks but Christmas is already in full force around here!

Mrs Claus is spending this weekend making some lovely stockings for some boys and girls.  I have a Koala, a Polar Bear, Deer, Owls, Stars, Snowmen, and a special one for a precious baby who will be born very soon!

It makes Mrs. Claus very happy to have her stockings hang in your homes.  I feel very blessed to be a part of your Christmas!

Merry Christmas,

Mrs. Claus

Creating a Custom Stocking

Just a 3 years ago I was on the Etsy feature, Alchemy, and I answered a request to make 3 custom made Christmas Stockings. From that one little request I was off creating and loving every minute of it. It inspired me to open a second Etsy shop just for my Christmas Stockings.

Last year I created 37 stockings and each one of them was a one of a kind stocking. While I had a very successful season last year with my stockings, I found that I really did have people who didn't understand how the process worked. So I thought I would share with you all the process of ordering and creating a stocking.

When ordering from my shop you will need to have some information, or at the very least some thoughts. I don't mind at all, in fact I love, guiding you through the process. Each and every one of my stockings is a handmade original, no two are exactly alike.

Here are some things you should think about:

1.) Color of your stocking
2.) Color of your cuff and lettering.
3.) Which direction you want your stocking toe to face.
4.) Do you like more traditional designs or do you want something completely custom to you?

Other things to think about, interest or hobbies of yours or the person you are purchasing for. I can find a wide variety of designs and usually we can find one that you will love! Whether your daughter is in ballet, or soccer, a rock star or a collector of snowmen. Or if your son is a hunter, fishermen, football player, hockey, golf.

All of these things, and many many more, are available on a stocking.

You may want everyone in your family to have a similar design. I can show you design packs where we can choose a related design for each of your family members.

Once you have decided on the colors and orientation of your stockings, and you have given me some thoughts on designs, I will begin my research. This is the most fun part of the process. I will take a few hours, look through designs and then send you links that show the designs I think you will like. You can then let me know what you like and don't. We will keep this up until we find exactly the right designs for your stockings.

The next step is for me to create. Stockings are generally created within 72 hours of your purchase. I strive to provide a very timely production and shipping time line. I will send you pictures once your stockings are complete.

I provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your stocking, let me know!

The wonderful thing about my stockings is the only limit on design is your imagination! I don't think I have had a request yet that I wasn't' able to fulfill.

Not only do I machine embroider, I also create other wonderful stockings using re purposed fabrics and other materials.

Do you have a favorite old quilt that has been in the family for years but is now showing wear, or maybe you want to share it with your other family members. I can re purpose it for you and make stockings that you will use for many Christmas's to come. My favorite project last year was turning a families matching nightgowns into fully lined flannel stockings for a family of 7. It was wonderful to give them a way to hang onto their family memories for years to come.

So drop in and check out my shop, or Facebook page. There are many pictures of all the different stockings I have created. If you have an idea, email me and we can discuss it! I look forward to exploring your ideas and creating a special holiday item for your home and family!

Till next time............

Kicking off the Holidays

Yes I know it is July ! Have you seen all the crazy "Christmas in July" sales? Well I can sort of understand the need to have Christmas in July. You see my world pretty much explodes beginning in November. Specifically right about one week before Thanksgiving. Suddenly everyone decides they need a Christmas stocking, and not just any Christmas Stocking, a CUSTOM one :) Now you notice this makes me smile, there are two reasons.

1.) I love doing custom work. I get such a kick out of making something which is special for that person. I also love hearing their ideas and searching for designs which meet exactly the picture they have in their head. It is a blast!

2.) I love the idea that on Christmas morning and every morning leading up to it, they see that stocking hanging in their house.

In some ways it allows me to be part of many, many Christmas celebrations and I love the idea of that!
I just wish I could convince the world to shop a little bit earlier :)

So I am going to try this! In celebration of "Christmas in July", my new blog, my desire to make some cool, fun stuff, and well everything else I can think of. I announce a contest! The winner gets one set of never released before Christmas ornaments.

This set contains four ornaments handmade and machine embroidered with your choice of Christmas designs. You can pick pretty much anything you want. Such as, bells, holly, candy canes, reindeer, santa, elves, etc. These are custom ornaments shaped like stockings and I can add small names or initials as well.

Here are the rules:

The Sewing Room

Mrs Claus Sewing Room is a magical room that I occupy at the top of Santa's ancient workshop. While Santa works below creating toys and gifts, I work away in my sewing room making beautiful stockings, ornaments, and other lovely items to fill your home. The elves drop in and visit with me from time to time, but mostly it is me and my fabric. I love that. I love my old Singer sewing machine and its silver plates. I love the soft fabrics, and the beautiful designs. I am in my favorite space when I am in my sewing room.

So I would like to share my space with you. I would like to invite you in to visit with me and see the lovely things I am making. I will share with you my favorite holiday recipes, ornaments, pictures of the things I am sewing. I will also share do it yourself ornament projects and other holiday crafts.

So stop by soon, stop by often, and share your thoughts with me! I look forward to getting to know you all!

Till next time......
